JI sees foreign hand in Pak-Afghan tension: Report in Dawn, July 3rd, 2016

LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami blames “foreign hand” for ongoing confrontation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“Some foreign forces want continuation of hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, people of the two countries will not let their nefarious designs succeed,” JI acting emir Liaquat Baloch said at a meeting of the steering committee of the Defae Pakistan Council at Mansoora here on Saturday.

Mr Baloch said the “enemy powers” wanted to deprive the Afghan people of peace, progress and respect.

“There will be peace in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees will return to their country,” he said.

He added the US and Nato troops should withdraw from Afghanistan and the Afghan government should cancel all security pacts with the US “signed under pressure” to allow the Afghan people freedom to elect their leadership.

Mr Baloch lauded the supply of basic human needs to the besieged Gaza people through the Freedom flotilla.

Blaming Prime Minister Hasina Wajid’s “vindictive approach” for the situation in Bangladesh, he said the country was being driven to “total destruction”.

He condemned “unlawful” killings in Bangladesh and dictatorial policies of the country’s government. He said India wanted to destabilise Bangladesh through “the puppet regime”. Pakistan’s foreign policy had also failed to stop the bloodshed in Bangladesh, he added.

The meeting also expressed concern over the repeated incidents of terrorism in Turkey. The Turkish people were united and they would foil the conspiracies of the world powers, it said. www.dawn.com/news/1268747/ji-sees-foreign-hand-in-pak-afghan-tension
