Islamic Emirate Denies Claims of US’s McCaul Regarding Equipping TTP

The Islamic Emirate, in response to the remarks of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, said that the current Afghan government has not given any military equipment to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said they have kept the remaining military equipment of foreign forces in depots and have no relations with the TTP.

“We deny this untrue allegation, which is a part of propaganda. I think this is a political issue in the US Congress, the members of the Congress are taking a stand against the government,” Mujahid told TOLOnews.

Earlier, at a committee hearing examining the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Michael McCaul accused the Islamic Emirate of equipping TTP with weapons.

“On support for terrorism, the TTP, who the Taliban have equipped with weapons the US left behind as increasingly conducting terror attacks, and al-Qaida remains safely in Afghanistan under the Taliban protection,” US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said.

The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), John Sopko, who was also present at the meeting, accused the current Afghan government of not fulfilling its obligations regarding the rights of women and children.

This comes as some Pakistani officials had previously claimed that the weapons and equipment left by foreign forces fell into the hands of the TTP, a case that the Islamic Emirate has always denied.
