Islamabad police witness major shake-up as 15 top cops replaced

In a major reshuffle for Islamabad police on Wednesday, as many as 15 top cops in the capital, including DIGs, AIGs and SSPs, have been replaced.

According to a notification issued by the federal government, 15 top cops of the capital city were removed from their posts.

The services of four cops including DIG Bilal Siddiq, SSP Zeeshan Asghar, DIG Zulfiqar Hameed, and Muhammad Saeed were handed over to the Balochistan province while DIG Rai Babar Saeed, DIG Humayun Bashir Tarar and Shaukat Abbas were directed to report to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

DIG Akhtar Abbas was appointed as joint secretary, Human Rights Division, while DIG Mansoor Ul Haq Rana was posted as deputy secretary, State and Frontier Region Division.

Additional IG BA Nasir was posted as senior joint secretary Railways division while DIG (FC) Abdul Jabbar was directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Furthermore, the services of DIG Muhammad Inkisar Khan Afghan and Captain (retd) Tahir Ayub Khan were handed over to the Frontier Corps (FC) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) respectively.

Before a shake-up in the police setup in Islamabad, the Lahore police also witnessed a major reshuffle after IG Punjab Inam Ghani assumed his charge.

The reshuffle included the appointments and transfers of five Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) in the province.

The changes included the appointment of Azhar Hameed Khokhar as AIG Establishment, Ghulam Rasool Zahid of the Punjab police as AIG of Internal Police Accountability Branch (IAB), Shahid Hanif as AIG Punjab Highway, Kanwar Shahrukh as AIG Training and Sahibzada Muhammad Shahzad Sultan given charge of AIG Operations Punjab.

Buzdar approves recruitment of 5,700 policemen in Punjab

Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the new building of police investigation complex central headquarters, driving license centre in DHA, a new building of Gulshan-e-Ravi police station and mobile application for women safety.

The CM approved the recruitment of 5700 policemen while presiding over a meeting at police investigation complex and directed to expedite the transfer of land to 101 police stations. The participants approved the proposal of necessary legislation for issuing driving licenses to deaf and dumb. The government wants a good police system and officers should open their doors to providing best services to the people. Every police officer enjoys the liberty of showing merit-based performance, he added.

The CM assured to solve traffic and highway police problems adding that partnership between prosecution and investigation wings should be improved. The investigation process will also be monitored through a central investigation centre, he disclosed. The CM said funds are provided according to the needs of the investigation wing because the quality investigation is very pivotal to take criminals to task. This will help in curbing the menace of bribery; he added and asked the police to deliver as required resources are provided to it.

The CM said the new vehicle will be given to police stations instead of using them for security. 150 new vehicles are already provided to the police stations, he added.

Model policing will be introduced as improving organizational capacity is a priority agenda of the PTI government. He appreciated the use of the latest technology adding that women safety app will save them from criminals. Public friendly policing should be introduced along with curbing of crime while working with a renewed passion for maintaining rule of law in the society, concluded the CM.
