ISIS militants among 19 killed in latest clearance operations: MoD KHAAMA PRESS – Mon Mar 07 2016,

At least 19 anti-government armed militants including loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in the latest counter-terrorism operations.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan army and security personnel from the other security institutions in the past 24 hours.

A statement by MoD said at least 17 militants were also injured during the operations and several weapons, ammunition and explosives were seized.

The statement further added that 14 militants were killed and 17 others were wounded in Kajaki district of Helmand and 2 others were killed in Ghazni.

In a separate operation in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, at least 3 militants affiliated with the ISIS terrorist group were killed, MoD added.

MoD also added that a huge cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was seized during a clearance operation in Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan province.

According to MoD, the cache included 2 suicide bombing vests, 6 remote controls used for landmines, 3 sacks of explosives, 7500 rounds of PK machine gun ammunition, 481 rounds of Ak-47 rifle ammunition, 11 rockets, 5 improvised explosive device, 30 mortar rounds, 56 82mm rockets, 940 rounds of Dshk ammunition, 7 mortar rounds, 10 landmines, and several other types of explosives and chemicals.
