LAHORE, July 4: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan says mid-term elections are required for solving the problems being faced by the country.
After a meeting with Dr Raghib Naeemi at Jamia Naeemia and visiting Mansoora for condoling the death of former Jamaat-i-Islami amir Mian Tufail, he said conditions in the country had not changed after the elections proving that the Tehrik’s decision to boycott the same was right.
He said the country was moving towards becoming a failed state with Wapda running into losses of Rs16 billion, PIA Rs80 billion and PTV Rs600 million.
He said suicide attacks have nothing to do with Islam, but Talibanisation and extremism would not be stopped as long as the US stayed in Afghanistan.
If the government wanted to control extremism, it should make efforts to ensure return of US and Nato forces from Afghanistan, he said.
He said extremism in tribal areas should be controlled by strengthening the tribes because military operation had resulted in increase in extremism. The government would have to find a political solution to the problem, he said. http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/national/imran-for-midterm-elections-579
