Hesarak District on Verge Of Falling To Taliban: Sources TOLOnews.com, 01 July 2016

A reliable security source told TOLOnews on Friday morning that Hesarak district in Nangarhar is on the verge of falling to the insurgent Taliban.

The source said four outposts of national and local police force members had fallen to Taliban on Thursday night, adding that two other outposts collapsed on Wednesday night.

According to the source, the clash is now near the district chief’s office.

The source added that police force members have criticized the central government for not supporting them in the battle and have said that the district may fall to the militants if they are not helped.

Meanwhile, Nangarhar governor spokesman Attaullah Khogayni said that nearly 30 Taliban fighters were killed and 20 others wounded in Hesarak conflict.

According to him, the insurgents were killed in security forces offensive as well as in air attacks carried out by foreign forces.
