Helmand’s Khanashin District Falls To Taliban TOLOnews.com. July 30, 2016

Khanashin district in Helmand province has fallen to Taliban after hours of clashes with security forces since last night, local official said Saturday.

According to the officials, the battle started after tens of Taliban fighters attacked parts of the district on Friday night.

Helmand governor spokesman Omar Zwak said the clashes are still ongoing between Afghan troops and Taliban rebels in parts of the district.

He said the Air Force has started supporting the ground troops in the district, adding that nearly 20 Taliban rebels have been killed in the air raids.

He added that security forces have pushed back the Taliban in parts of the district.
