Head of Saudi Arabia’s Majlis-e-Shura calls on prime minister By Muhammad Saleh Zaafir in The News, April 05, 2016

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Majlis-e-Shura Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr Abdullah Mohammad Al-Sheikh has lauded the economic turnaround achieved by Pakistan and appreciated the investor friendly policies of the present government.

He has expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Pakistan will eventually come out of these challenges on permanent basis. He was talking to the prime minister at the PM House Monday during meeting.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and State Minister Jam Kamal Khan were also present on the occasion. The chairman is currently on three day official visit to Pakistan.Discussing political situation in the country with the visiting dignitary Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that democracy was flourishing in Pakistan as today’s Parliament was much more democratic as well as vibrant comparing to the past. He said that ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML–N) not only secured a big victory in recent local body elections but also stood victorious in almost all the by-elections, which was a reflection of its popularity amongst the masses of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz recalled that his government inherited major challenges like power crises, worsening law and order condition and deteriorating economic conditions. He said, “However, through sheer hard work our team has been able steer the country in much better position as compared to two and half years ago.” He said that Pakistan’s foreign reserves were currently at the highest in history, and there was zero loadshedding in industrial sector and for the domestic users it had been reduced at significant level.

The operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched after attaining political consensus about it and it had producing admirable results. The premier said that the terrorist were now on the run and hitting soft targets but the government was hopeful to overcome the menace with the support of the people soon.

Warmly welcoming the Dr Muhammad Abdullah Al-Shaikh Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the government and the people of Pakistan held the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz in high esteem. “The bilateral relations of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are deep rooted in common faith, culture, history and heritage,” the prime minister stated.

The Chairman thanked the prime minister for warm welcome and extended compliments and best wishes on behalf of the Custodian of the Holy Mosques. He stated that exchange of parliamentary delegations was important not only for sharing expertise and parliamentary experience but it would also strengthen the bonds of friendship between our two brotherly countries as both sides share perceptions and cooperate on issues of mutual interest at regional and international level.

Earlier in the meeting the Chairman Majlis-e-Shura of Saudi Arabia extended his heartfelt condolences on loss of innocent lives in Lahore blast and condemned such terrorist’s acts in strongest terms.
