Afghan intelligence operatives have foiled a terrorist attack plot by the Haqqani terrorist network on a hotel in capital Kabul.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said a suspected militant was looking to carry out the attack on a hotel in Shahr-e-Naw part of the city using 2 Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
A statement by NDS said the detained militant affiliated with the Haqqani network has been identified as Khalid who is also famous as Sohail.
This comes as the US Embassy in Kabul issued a security alert to US citizens regarding a possible attack on a hotel in Kabul city.
“The U.S. Embassy in Kabul has received reports that insurgents are planning to conduct attacks targeting The Star Hotel in Kabul City,” a statement by US Embassy said.
This was the fourth large attack plot by Haqqani terrorist network which have been thwarted by the Afghan intelligence operatives in the country within the past few days.
Earlier, the Afghan intelligence foiled a coordinated attack on Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and another deadly attack plot in eastern Khost province.
The last attack plot by the terror network was thwarted last week as the group was looking to carry out coordinated suicide attack in Pul-e-Alam city. http://www.khaama.com/haqqani-network-attack-on-a-kabul-hotel-foiled-by-nds-operatives-0676
