GB Service Tribunal not functioning for 4 months

GILGIT: Cases of hundreds of government servants remain unresolved as the Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal has not been functioning for last four months.

Three members of the tribunal got retired in January this year, but the government failed to appoint its new members.

This was disclosed by Pakistan People’s Party, GB chapter president Amjad Hussain Advocate while talking to journalists on Sunday. He lamented that four months had passed since the members retired, but the government was not bothered to make new appointments, which was causing great suffering to the government servants.

He said thousands of cases related to service structure, salary, promotions, postings and retirement were pending with the tribunal.

Mr Amjad accused the GB chief minister and the governor of apathy towards the concerns of the public servants.

The PPP leader pointed out that over 100 staff was serving in the service tribunal at hefty salaries and the government was paying huge monthly rent for its building, which was a burden on the taxpayers. He said he failed to understand why the government was reluctant to appoint new members to the tribunal.https://www.dawn.com/news/1327455/gb-service-tribunal-not-functioning-for-4-months
