Foreign Secretary of Nepal Bharat Raj Paudyal called on Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing on Thursday.
A press release issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing following the meeting stated that the two sides discussed the matters related to strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.
“During the meeting, matters related to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and China were discussed,” reads the press release.
Mentioning the crucial contribution of China to the development of Nepal, Paudyal extended further support from Nepal towards Chinese President Xi Jinping for his third term as the nation’s President.
“Since Nepal and China are close neighbours, we expect support from our northern neighbour towards our newly formed government,” Paudyal said.
Other topics such as the exchange of visits, development cooperation, trade, investment and tourism were also talked about, the embassy further stated.
Nepali Ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Joint Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Lok Bahadur Thapa, and other senior foreign ministry officials of both the nations were in attendance during the call.
Paudyal is currently in China, along with other Nepali delegations, to take part in the 15th meeting of the Bilateral Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism between the foreign ministers of the two Asian countries, scheduled for Friday.
