Flydubai resumes Kabul flights following a 2-year suspension:

By Fidel Rahmati in The Khaama Press Online, October 12, 20230124
Flydubai is resuming flights between Kabul and the United Arab Emirates, as confirmed by the Afghanistan Consulate General in Dubai. This decision comes after a two-year suspension of these flights and marks a significant development in air travel between the two destinations.

Meanwhile, after almost four months of concerted efforts, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan is on the verge of granting Flydubai permission to resume flights to Afghanistan.

According to the statement, flight operations are set to resume next month, with a potential start date as early as November 15.

The decision to resume Flydubai flights is being hailed as a significant and critical move, especially in the wake of the previous government’s fall in August 2021, which led to the suspension of operations by many international airlines in Afghanistan.

Currently, two local airlines, Ariana Airlines and Kam Air, are the primary carriers operating in the country. However, passengers have voiced numerous complaints regarding the substantial ticket price hikes on flights between Kabul and Dubai.

This situation highlights the need for more options and competition in the market to ensure affordable and accessible air travel for passengers travelling between Kabul and Dubai.

According to online sources, the cost of a one-way economy class ticket from Kabul to Dubai has surged to approximately $450, marking a significant increase from prices two years ago.
