LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department claimed on Saturday to have arrested five suspected terrorists linked with different banned outfits during operations in different areas of the province.
As per its spokesman, the CTD conducted 47 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different districts of the province to avert any incident of terrorism. During these IBOs, 47 suspects were interrogated and five alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.
The suspects were identified as Hanif, Syed Muhammad, Tariq, Khalid Mehmood and Abdul Sattar, allegedly belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangv, militant Islamic State Group and Baloch Liberation Army.
The arrests were made during IBOs in Gujranwala and Multan, recovering 555 gram explosives, one detonator, two safety fuse, 65 pamphlets of banned organisations, 30 stickers, an Afghan identity card, a mobile phone and Rs6,950 in cash from the suspects’ possession.
CTD spokesman said the suspects had planned sabotage across the province and wanted to target important installations and religious places. https://www.dawn.com/news/1764965/five-militants-held
