Friday was one of the deadliest days for Daesh and Taliban in eastern Nangarhar province.

Earlier reports suggested that dozens of militants were killed in airstrikes but an official says that 16 others were killed in internal clashes of the insurgent groups.

Spokesperson for the police headquarters of Nangarhar said the clashes erupted in Dago, Sangini and Kariz areas of Chaparhar Distirict on Friday.

Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal added that 13 fighters of Daesh and three from Taliban were killed in these clashes.

According to Col. Mashriqiwal, 11 other Taliban also sustained injuries in the gun battles.

The clashes erupt the same day Daesh beheaded six Taliban in Achin District of Nangarhar.

Nangarhar has become the battle ground for Taliban and Daesh where they have announced ‘Jihad’ against each other.

On Wednesday, a clash broke out between the two sides in Bati Kot District which left 19 militants killed and several others wounded . 18 of those killed belonged to Daesh.

The police headquarters of Nangarhar province later released a photo of those killed showing at least of them severely burnt.
