DADU: Two terror suspects were arrested in an action carried out by a team of the Counter Terrorism Department in Sikandarabad Colony, Kotri, in Jamshoro district, a spokesman for the Hyderabad CTD said on Monday.
Identifying the suspects as Amin Solangi and Ayaz Khan, the spokesman claimed that explosives, detonators, ball-bearings, one 9mm pistol, one 30-bore pistol and bullets were seized from them.
He said Solangi appeared to be associated with a banned outfit while Khan confessed during the interrogation that he used to supply arms and ammunition to the outfit.
The CTD named the outfit as the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), adds APP.
Quoting a CTD statement, it said Ayaz Khan allegedly used to book online orders and supplied arms and ammunition to SRA operatives in different cities of the province.
“Solangi and Khan, on an order of SRA commander Zulfiqar Khaskheli, had planned to execute an attack on a vehicle carrying law enforcement agency personnel on Monday, but the attempt failed due to their arrest,” according to the CTD statement.
It further claimed that Solangi told the CTD interrogators that he had planned to carry out blasts on the Independence Day but due to strict checking by the LEAs, he could not execute the plan. The suspect said that he also intended to travel to Afghanistan to receive training in terrorism, according to the CTD statement.
