LAKKI MARWAT: A levy police personnel was martyred when unknown armed men opened fire on him here on Monday.
Police said the incident occurred in Gul Waliabad locality in the area limits of the city police station. They said that levy policeman Jehanzeb Khan, 39, came under fire when he was going to bazaar on his motorcycle for shopping.
“The attackers also took away his motorcycle,” they maintained. Moeenuddin, father of the deceased cop, told police in his preliminary report that his son proceeded to bazaar after dropping him at the entrance of the urban locality.
“After a few moments I heard gunshots and rushed to the venue where I found Jehanzeb lying in a pool of blood,” he added.
He told police that his son had no enmity with anyone and that the attackers fled along with Jehanzeb’s motorcycle…..
Meanwhile, a prominent religious scholar was kidnapped in Bakkakhel area of Bannu on Monday.
Police said Maulana Zabita Ali Khan was going to his seminary in his car when five unidentified armed men intercepted him at gunpoint near Tochi Bridge.
They said that the armed men abducted the cleric and took him towards the Janikhel area in his own car.
