  1. PAK SCENE – TERRORISM- 6
Two TTP members arrested for extortion, target killing of Karachi businessmen
Report in Pakistan Today, April 10, 2023
KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers and police jointly conducted an intelligence-based operation in Karachi, resulting in the arrest of two terrorists belonging to the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Sunday.

The arrested terrorists, identified as Muhammad Kamal Khan and Abdul Qadir, were involved in extortion and target killing of traders in various neighbourhoods of Karachi, including Saddar, Manghopir, and Banaras Town. Khan was the leader of the group.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the accused received instructions for their criminal activities from Afsar Khan alias Arshad, a TTP terrorist based in Afghanistan.

The arrested terrorists would share the mobile numbers of local businessmen with their boss in Afghanistan, who would then demand extortion money from the traders, the spokesperson said in a statement.

If a trader refused to pay, the terrorists would injure or kill them, he added.

“According to initial investigations, the suspects have confessed to sharing the numbers of five local traders, sending extortion slips and killing two traders for refusing to hand over the extortion money,” the statement said.

Raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects’ accomplices, the two agencies said.

The Sindh Rangers and police have handed over the arrested terrorists to the police for further legal action. https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2023/04/09/two-ttp-members-arrested-for-extortion-target-killing-of-karachi-businessmen/
