China’s special envoy on Asian Affairs Sun Guoxiang is now in the city on a three-day visit to discuss Myanmar issues with Bangladesh, reports news agency UNB.
Bangladesh wants Sun Guoxiang to go to Cox’s Bazar and see the Rohingya situation there to get a better understanding, diplomatic sources said.
The Chinese envoy is likely to hold talks with foreign secretary M Shahidul Haque and other officials on Tuesday.
Earlier, Chinese ambassador in Dhaka Ma Mingqiang and other officials from the Embassy visited Cox’s Bazar in March to see the Rohingya situation there.
