In a joint statement issued on Friday after meetings between the two countries’ leaders in Riyadh, China and Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of preventing Afghanistan from becoming a haven for terrorists.
According to the statement, Beijing and Riyadh are working to improve security and stability in Afghanistan and will help to provide humanitarian aid to this country.
“Regarding Afghanistan, the two sides stressed the importance of supporting efforts that would achieve security and stability in Afghanistan, ensuring that Afghanistan does not become a haven for terrorist and extremist groups. They also stressed the importance of strengthening humanitarian efforts exerted by the international community to stop the ongoing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, and to deliver humanitarian aid to the Afghan people,” the statement reads.
Political experts believe that neighboring countries and Central Asia should play a role in improving the situation in Afghanistan in a better way.
“It is the responsibility of the Afghan government to address the concerns of the countries of the region and the world through a joint diplomatic action,” said Najibullah Jami, political expert.
“The Taliban should provide this assurance, and better confidence should be created for the neighboring countries,” said Sadiq Shinwari, military expert.
However, the Islamic Emirate says that the concerns regarding the presence of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan are baseless and has said that Kabul will not allow any group to operate in Afghanistan.
“They cooperate with Afghans on humanitarian, commercial, and economic issues; this is admirable, and the Islamic Emirate’s stance is clear about Afghanistan’s territory not being a threat to other nations, that there is no threat to any country from Afghan soil,” said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.
Following the alleged killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul, concerns about the existence of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan have increased among some nations, but the Islamic Emirate has always said that these concerns are unfounded.
