Suspended Biman Bangladesh Airlines Co-pilot Sabbir Ahmed, alias Amam Sabbir, has confessed to his involvement in a plot to attack the residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with an aeroplane.
Sabbir gave his confessional statement to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari in the latter’s chambers, after the accused was produced before him by Sub-inspector Md Amirul Islam of Rapid Action Battalion 4, also investigation officer of the case.
Though details of the confessional statement were yet to be revealed, court sources said that Sabbir had planned to crash an aircraft on the residence of Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina in a similar manner to infamous terror attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York on September 11, 2001.
Earlier on Wednesday, November 1, a Dhaka court placed Sabbir on a four day remand after he was arrested on the previous day. Three others arrested with him were also placed on varying periods of remand.
Sabbir is a first officer of the national flag carrier and son of Habibullah Bahar Azad, who was arrested after a drive at a militant den at Mirpur Mazar Road on September 7 this year.http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/court/2017/11/08/biman-pilot-confesses-hasina/
