Beijing is closely following Afghanistan’s security situation and it will continue to support Afghanistan’s efforts to combat terrorism, the Chinese foreign ministry said.
Speaking at a press conference, Mao Ning, spokeswoman for China’s ministry of foreign affairs, said that Beijing strongly condemns the recent attacks and is firmly against all forms of violent terrorist activities.
“We extend sympathies to the people who were injured in the attack. China is closely following Afghanistan’s security situation. We will continue to firmly support Afghanistan’s efforts to combat all forms of terrorism and violence and to defend national security and stability,” Mao Ning said to reporters.
In reaction, the Islamic Emirate said that no insurgent groups currently reside in Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said that foreign countries must support Afghanistan in economic and political areas.
“We pledge that Afghanistan’s soil will not be a threat to any country and the Islamic Emirate is considering this point and will not let anyone create disorder and use Afghanistan against another country,” said Zabihullah Mujahid.
“China is worrying about the presence of anti-China groups in Afghanistan. The second point is that China must invest in Afghanistan … China has always said that it is waiting for an inclusive government in Afghanistan to recognize before it starts investment,” said Tariq Farhadi, political expert.
The China statements come as many countries, including the Unites States, India, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan expressed concerns over the presence of insurgents in Afghanistan.
