Report in bdnews24.com, Sept 15, 2017
Benapole: Police have detained three people on charges of forcing a Buddhist monk to speak over the Rohingya issue, recording his statement and circulating the video on social media at Benapole border in Jessore.

The three detainees are Reazul Islam Mandal, Amin Hossain and Toufique Ahmed.

Benapole Police Station Sub-Inspector Sharif Habibur Rahman said the trio stopped the Buddhist monk on his way home to Chittagong from India on Tuesday.

“They forced him into a car and asked him to make a statement as per their instruction. They recorded the statement and circulated it on the social media, which later went viral,” the police officer said.

He said the monk was forced to speak against extremist Buddhists of Myanmar and the country’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi over the ongoing operation against Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State.

A general diary was recorded at the police station over the incident.

Sharif said the video was circulated from the social media accounts of the three detained people.http://bdnews24.com/bangladesh/2017/09/15/three-detained-for-forcing-buddhist-monk-to-speak-against-myanmar-suu-kyi
