Chittagong: Hefazat-e-Islam chief Shah Ahmed Shafi has said it is the moral responsibility of all Muslims around the world to stand by the persecuted Rohingya people in Myanmar.
Issuing a press statement yesterday, he made a clarion call to the Myanmar government to stop its campaign of assault on Rohingya Muslims.
Myanmar’s army has been killing unarmed women, children and elderly people through a systematic, premeditated and planned genocide against the Rohingyas, Shafi said.
He added: “The mass killings in Myanmar have broken all previous records… As the country’s army is carrying out arson attacks, Rohingyas are making desperate attempts to flee the atrocities. The bodies of fleeing Rohingyas are now floating in rivers.
“The army are committing crimes against humanity. Rohingyas are our brothers and sisters. It is our bounden duty to provide them with shelter and food.”
The Hefazat chief called on the Bangladesh government, United Nations and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to mount diplomatic pressure on Myanmar to put an end to the “genocide.”
He also urged countrymen to pray for the persecuted Rohingyas during the Jummah prayers today.http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/2017/09/01/hefazat-shafi-stand-rohingyas/
