HYDERABAD: Two pylons of high transmission lines of National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) were partially damaged in Jamshoro when improvised explosive devices planted with the pylons’ foundations exploded late on Tuesday night.
The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), which was said to have claimed responsibility for blowing up the pylons, said that all supply lines to Punjab were its target.
The explosions took place at towers No467 and 463 located in a mountainous area between Indus and M9 highways.
An official of Bomb Disposal Squad, who reached the area after the blasts, said that the four foundation pillars of tower 467 were partially damaged while two pillars of tower 463 were completely damaged with around 200 grams of explosives. Around 100 grams of explosives were used at tower 467, he said.
He said that a few pieces of adhesive tape were also found at the blast sites. The explosives were believed to be detonated through some non-electrical device, he said, adding that the blasts, however, failed to affect the transmission lines supply.
Jamshoro SSP Imran Qureshi said that police were investigating the subversive activity in the hilly area. NTDC staff would formally lodge an FIR about the incident, he said. https://www.dawn.com/news/1725156/banned-outfit-claims-botched-attempt-to-blow-up-two-pylons
