Baloch seeks CPEC-styled consensus on Kashmir policy By Muhammad Anis in The News, July 29, 2016

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday asked the government to constitute a consensus Kashmir committee to reach a common policy on the issue as it did in cases of the National Action Plan (NAP) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Addressing a press conference here, JI Central Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said the consensus Kashmir committee on its formation should be given the mandate to give a roadmap on the Kashmir issue so that the country’s leadership could unite on a single platform as was demonstrated on issues of NAP and CPEC.

He said there was a need to give an impetus to the struggle of Kashmiris, which had been revived by martyrdom of Muzaffar Burhan Wani. Baloch told newsmen the JI would organise a ‘National Kashmir Conference’ in Islamabad on Friday (today). Invitations have been sent to the leaders of the government and opposition parties, religious parties, members of the civil society and others.

Similarly, the ‘Kashmir Azadi March’ will be organised from Nasir Bagh to Wagah Border on July 31 (Sunday). The JI women wing will also stage a Kashmir March on August 4 to give a befitting response to condemnable statement of the Indian foreign minister on the Kashmir issue.

The JI leader, while accusing the government of taking the Indian atrocities lightly, said the policy being followed by the rulers was not sufficient to awaken the international community and highlight the issue at different world forum.

Baloch called upon the United Nations to send representatives of the permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council to the occupied Kashmir to see from their eyes the plight of the Kashmiri people.https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/138542-Baloch-seeks-CPEC-styled-consensus-on-Kashmir-policy
