BAJAUR: The Awami National Party has named its candidates for the four provincial assembly seats in Bajaur tribal district, a statement issued here on Tuesday said.
It said the ANP’s provincial parliamentary committee made the nominations on the recommendations of the party’s Bajaur leadership.
As per the decision, Malik Hikmatullah Khan Mamond has been noaminated for PK-19 constituency, Gul Afzal Khan (ANP district president) for PK-20, Rasheed Khan for PK-21 and Shah Naseer Khan for PK-22.
However, the statement said name of the party’s candidate for the National Assembly seat would be decided later.
The statement said the party was going to launch its election campaign soon.
Meanwhile, some ANP activists expressed reservations over the poll nominations.
In their social media posts shared soon after the list of nominees was made public, they pointed out that barring Gul Afzal Khan all other candidates were quite new to them.
They demanded of the party’s provincial leadership to reconsider the decision as the nominees for the provincial assembly seats would be unable to woo voters, which would prove detrimental to the party’s cause in Bajaur……
