ISLAMABAD: A judicial magistrate (JM) of Gilgit has issued a notice to declare Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, Editor-in-Chief Jang Group, Shaista Lodhi, a former host of Geo TV programme, Veena Malik and her husband as “absconders” and directed them to appear on December 26. It said if the accused persons fail to appear, one-sided proceedings will be carried out against them. The notification is yet another attempt to prosecute the accused in multiple ways for one alleged crime. Despite conviction by the Anti-Terrorism Court in the same alleged crime, another court of Gilgit started prosecution of the accused.
