LONDON: Aleema Khan has revealed that legal proceedings will be initiated in the UK by Imran Khan’s sons and in the US against American diplomat Donald Lu, seeking justice for the PTI chief.
However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the UK appears to be unaware of these developments.
In the United States, Atif Khan, a PTI Core Committee member and adviser to Imran Khan, has verified that preparations for a case are underway, with filing expected within two weeks.
Aleema Khan had announced on December 14 that Imran Khan’s sons would be pursuing legal action in the UK, and a case against Donald Lu would be filed in the US.
Atif Khan revealed that the case in the US would involve several American-Pakistanis as complainants, including those directly affected by events since April 2022. It will be a federal-level class action, with Donald Lu named as the defending party.
Khadijah Shah and other American nationals, whose families reside in Pakistan and are affected parties, will also be a part of the case.
The News reached out to three credible PTI representatives in the UK, all of whom confirmed their lack of knowledge regarding any potential legal action by Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan. They were unaware of any plans to file a case at the London High Court and were uncertain about the identities of the respondent or defendant involved.
Jemima Khan has refrained from making public comments on the current political situation in Pakistan. A source close to her has confirmed that she is not aware of any legal cases in the UK and is not part of any such efforts. Jemima Khan has consistently expressed her reluctance to involve herself in Pakistani politics.
Meanwhile, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan, who are not active on social media, have not publicly addressed the evolving situation in Pakistan since April 2022.
