Afghan, NATO Officials Meet With Pakistani Delegation In Kabul by Mir Abed Joyenda in Tolonews.com, July 26, 2016

A military delegation from Pakistan called on Afghan and Resolute Support mission officials in Kabul on Tuesday where they discussed ways to fight the menace of terrorism along the bordering areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Defense Ministry said the trilateral meeting was aimed at overcoming challenges – particularly terrorist activities along the Durand Line.

“The [trilateral] meetings were held in the past as well. It is expected that security officials from the two countries overcome the border rifts between the two countries,” said the Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri.

Meanwhile, analysts said they believe that the recent border issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan requires an honest contribution by Islamabad in fighting terrorism on two sides of the Durand Line.

“Overcoming the rifts in Kabul-Islamabad relations as well as solving the border problems requires that both countries find the root of the problem and then try to tackle it,” said Sayed Farhad Hashemi, political commentator.

This comes after recent clashes between Afghan and Pakistani border forces over the installation of gates at Torkham crossing which left casualties among troops from both countries.http://www.tolonews.com/en/afghanistan/26445-afghan-nato-officials-meet-with-pakistani-delegation-in-kabul
