205th Atal Corps officials confirmed to media that Massoud Atal, a military helicopter pilot was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in PD14 of Kandahar city on Wednesday afternoon.
An investigation is underway in regards to the murder.
No group or individual have claimed responsibility for the attack.
This comes as Massoud Andarabi, Interior Minister, and Ahmad Zia Siraj, Head of NDS were summoned to answer senators in Meshrano Jirga (Upper House).
Both government officials blamed the Taliban for the targeted killings, and that the Taliban are responsible for 99% of attacks and violence in Afghanistan.
In another incident, six Daesh militants including their finance manager were captured in Nangarhar.
Provincial Governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani told media, that the Daesh’s finance chief in Afghanistan was arrested.
NDS reportedly nabbed three other suspects in the Bezakamalati area of Nangarhar.
A detainee who is blind was involved in spreading propaganda and was recruiting for the group.
Two Taliban fighters were also captured in the region, near Torkham Township.
Khogyani said, the NDS operatives also captured two Taliban fighters in Jalalabad and Torkham Township.
