The Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Emirate for the first time said that in the past one year, nearly forty members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been arrested and imprisoned across the country.
The spokesman of the ministry, Abdul Mateen Qani, told TOLOnews that Kabul wants good interactions with neighboring countries and will never allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against other countries, including neighboring countries.
“Today, there is no group operating in Afghanistan. There are a large number of Daesh captives with us, and around 35 to 40 TTP are imprisoned by us,” Qani noted.
The spokesman further stated that any individual or group that wants to disturb the security in the country, will be identified and arrested.
“The Islamic Emirate is obliged to ensure the security of the country, and anyone who disturbs it, we will recognize him/her as a criminal and will arrest them, and will not allow them,” Qani said.
Meanwhile, some political and military analysts said they believe the improvement of relations between Kabul and Islamabad will benefit both sides.
“We did not have a good relation with Pakistan over the past 43 years, and I don’t think that the relation between Pakistan and Afghanistan will get better with these arrests,” Salim Paijir, a political analyst said.
“The arrest of alleged TTP members that Pakistan has given on a list to the Taliban, shows the cooperation of the Taliban government with Pakistan,” Mohammad Yusuf Aminzada, a military analyst told TOLOnews.
This comes as the Interim Government of Pakistan’s spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that his nation provided the Islamic Emirate with the information on the TTP’s hideouts.
However, the Islamic Emirate has said that the current Afghan government will act immediately if there is any evidence about Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
