Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will begin her election campaign in Sylhet by visiting the Shrines of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) and Hazrat Shah Paran on December 20.
Subsequently, an electoral rally will take place at the Sylhet Alia Madrasa field, Awami League Presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said during his inspection of the madrasa field in Sylhet on Wednesday.
“The country is moving towards the 12th national parliamentary elections. However, only the BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami coalition has positioned the global leaders against us. Despite this, our leader is moving towards the elections, showing disregard for the scrutiny of these global leaders,” he said.
“The BNP-Jamaat, unable to achieve anything by appealing to the global leaders, are resorting to killing people by setting vehicles on fire under the guise of strikes and blockades. On these incidents of burning people to death, the global leaders do not speak out. We have to demonstrate to these global leaders that a fair election is only possible under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership,” Nanak added.
He mentioned that over one million people are expected to gather at the Alia Madrasa field for the electoral rally.
