Five suspected terrorists held

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday claimed to have arrested five suspected terrorists belonging to banned organisations during operations in different areas of the province.

According to the departmental spokesman, the CTD conducted 179 intelligence- based operations in different districts and arrested 179 suspected persons whose interrogation led to capture of five alleged terrorists with weapons, explosives and other prohibited material.

The arrested were identified as Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Madni, Salman Saeed, Muhammad Naeem and Akmal belonging to the banned organizations Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. They were picked from Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi.

The spokesman said that the terrorists had planned to target important installations.

He said that 769 combing operations were also conducted during this week with the help of local police and security agencies, 3,1250 persons were checked, 82 suspects were arrested, 74 FIRs were registered and 41 recoveries were made during these operations. https://www.dawn.com/news/1788538/five-suspected-terrorists-held
