The Ministry of Interior of Pakistan has announced that it will soon unveil a mechanism regarding the assets of Afghan immigrants.
On Thursday, the Afghan interim government’s embassy in Islamabad stated that the interim Interior Minister of Pakistan has promised to announce a mechanism soon regarding the cash and non-cash assets of Afghan immigrants.
The embassy conveyed a message on the social media platform X that Sardar Ahmad Shakib, the acting Ambassador of the Taliban administration in Islamabad, held a meeting with Sarfaraz Bugti, the interim Interior Minister of Pakistan.
During this meeting, both parties discussed the existing problems related to the expulsion of Afghan migrants, especially the transfer of their assets and funds to bank accounts.
The embassy of the Taliban administration in Islamabad added that the harassment and mistreatment of Afghans, including women and children, by Pakistani soldiers and police were among the topics of discussion between the two sides.
According to the embassy, Bugti, the interim Interior Minister of Pakistan, has instructed the police of this country once again to refrain from harassing and mistreating Afghans with legal residence documents.
Pakistan had set a one-month deadline for illegal immigrants to depart from the country, with the cutoff date being November 1, 2023. As the deadline passed, Pakistan commenced the process of expelling Afghan migrants.
