Analysts: Forced Deportations Not in Mandate of Pakistan’s Interim Govt

With the arrival of the November 1 deadline for Afghan migrants to leave Pakistan, some lawyers say that the interim government should be limited to just advancing the daily affairs of the country.

The analysts said that the interim government should not make decisions that are controversial.

“In Pakistan’s law when an interim prime minister come into power, they cannot do things like this, this is rule breaking and the point is that if they do act like this, we do not see a good relation between Afghanistan and Pakistan in the future,” said Maeen Gul Samkanai, political analyst.

“This issue has nothing to do with their election affairs, but it is a matter of inclusion in Pakistan. It’s a matter of inclusion in Pakistan, and they did it all together,” said Abdul Shukoor Daadras, a lawyer.

The interior minister of the interim government of Pakistan announced in September the country’s one-month deadline for illegal immigrants, including 1.7 million Afghans, in the country, adding that they would forcibly deport refugees from Pakistan after the deadline.

“Pakistan has committed to the forced deportation of Afghan refugees against humanitarian and international rules and wants to bring problems to the current Afghan government,” said Ahmad Khan Andar, an international Relations analyst.

On the other hand, the Islamic Emirate emphasized that the decision of the interim government of Pakistan will damage relations between the two countries.

“The issue of refugees is the issue with which Afghanistan suffers and the people of Afghanistan are suffering and it also damages the relations between the two countries.

We have asked the government authorities in Pakistan to take the issue seriously and understand the consequences,” Zabihullah Mujahid said.

Under Pakistan’s 2017 election law, the interim government must not make political decisions other than in urgent matters.

Under the law, Pakistan’s interim government must participate in elections in coordination with the country’s election commission and not take actions that lead to conflict.
