Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate, on a visit to Türkiye, has met with Hakan Fidan, the foreign minister of Türkiye.
The two discussed strengthening diplomatic and economic relations and the creation of new trade corridors between Afghanistan and Türkiye.
Hafi Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs of the Islamic Emirate said that in the meeting the Turkish foreign minister emphasized that no armed conflict should exist in Afghanistan.
“The Turkish foreign minister emphasized that no armed conflict should exist in Afghanistan, and also added that Türkiye will cooperate with Afghanistan in the capacity building of different sectors,” said Hafi Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs.
“(Türkiye) does not want another armed conflict in Afghanistan … World countries including the US believe that armed conflict should not exist in the country and that political ways need to be sought,” said Najibullah Jame, a political analyst.
According to Takal, during the meeting with the Turkish foreign minister, Muttaqi insisted on the official acceptance of Afghan diplomats, adding that the move will be beneficial for bilateral relations.
Takal also said that the acting minister has met with Suleiman Jalif, 77 Insaat Director and head of the Afghan-Turk business council.
In the meetings, Amir Khan Muttaqi said that Islamic Emirate is striving to expand business with regional countries, in particular Türkiye, and that new land corridors will be activated and be strengthened to develop business, said Hafiz Zia Takal.
“Afghanistan and Türkiye have had friendly relations, the relations should be kept so that political and economic trust is built between the two countries,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, political activist.
The acting foreign minister has also met with Afghan diplomats in Afghanistan’s embassy in Ankara, officials of humanitarian organizations, religious scholars, businessmen, influential figures and Afghan students and refugees in Türkiye.
Amir Khan Muttaqi asked Türkiye-based Afghan refugees to return to the country as security has been ensured.
