The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has condemned the detention and mistreatment of Afghan migrants in Pakistan. They accuse the Pakistani government of extorting money from migrants and committing crimes against them.
In a statement released by the TTP, they claim that Afghans’ involvement in recent attacks in the Chitral region of Pakistan is untrue and baseless.
The group accuses the Pakistani government of extorting and taking bribes from Afghan refugees, claiming that Pakistani forces intend to extract millions of rupees from migrants.
TTP, responsible for major attacks in Pakistan over the past two years, continues to deny Pakistan’s allegations of Afghan involvement in these attacks and organize them from Afghan soil, calling it “absurd.”
The TTP statement states, “Launching extensive and joint attacks in Chitral from outside Pakistan is beyond reason.”
The Pakistani government has recently initiated extensive actions in several states, leading to the detention of hundreds of Afghan migrants. TTP claims that the detained migrants are “poor Afghan labourers.”
The group asserts that the Pakistani government is “committing crimes against Afghan migrants” and calls on the people of Pakistan to “take action to end the injustice and show good neighbourhood to the people of Afghanistan.”
Senior Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that Afghans are responsible for the increase in insecurity in Pakistan and have also alleged that TTP organizes its attacks from Afghan soil.
It is worth noting that the TTP has requested its military commission to refrain from recruiting Afghans.https://www.khaama.com/ttp-accuses-pakistan-govt-of-crimes-against-afghan-migrants/
