LAKKI MARWAT: The police repulsed an attack by terrorists on the Lakki Marwat city police station here on Friday night.
An official said on Saturday that a group of terrorists attacked the city police station with sophisticated weapons. He, however, said the assailants could not breach the police station as the policemen deployed there were fully alert and responded effectively.
The official said the police station building was located at a stone’s throw from the RiverGambila and the terrorists might have come from the riverside to attack it. “After police repulsed the attack, the terrorists escaped the scene,” he added
The exchange of fire between the police and terrorists at midnight also panicked the local residents.
A resident, who was sleeping in the courtyard of his house, said he woke up to the sound of gunfire at midnight.
It was the second attack on the city police station in the last over eight months.
Several police stations have come under attack in the district during the last several months. …..
