SWAT: A policeman was critically injured after terrorists attacked the Talegram police station and the adjacent checkpost here on Monday night.
Officials said terrorists attacked the police station building located on the main Malam Jabba Road from two sides. They said the personnel responded and repulsed the attack.
However, a policeman, Jameeullah, sustained injuries during the exchange of fire with the militants.
The law enforcement personnel shifted the injured to the Saidu Sharif Trauma Centre, where his condition is reported to be stable.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Khorasani, a spokesperson of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, in a WhatsApp message to reporters, claimed the responsibility for the attack, saying three policemen were injured in the attack.
He said the attackers reached their abode safely.
Regional police officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur visited the injured policeman in the hospital, and later also visited the Talegram police station.
According to locals, exchange of fire between the police and the attackers went on for about 20 minutes. They said there was a shortage of personnel in the police station.
They said hundreds of personnel had been provided for the security of political figures and other people, but there was a shortage of policemen in the police stations.
