The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, reiterated his support for forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan that would include representatives from all ethnic groups at the Gulf Cooperation Council-Central Asia Summit.
Rahmon emphasized that the Taliban should recognize the freedom and rights of all ethnic groups and women in Afghanistan.
“We support the formation of an all-inclusive government that represents all ethnic, political, and social groups to guarantee the rights and freedoms of people, especially women,” he said.
The country always supported a peaceful resolution to the Afghanistan conflict and that an inclusive government will serve as the cornerstone for such peace.
Additionally, he urged Central Asian countries and leaders of the Arab world to work together to combat international crime and drug trafficking.
The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and five Central Asian countries, namely Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, met for the first time on Wednesday in Jeddah.
At the summit, the president of Kyrgyzstan stated that the situation in Afghanistan is quite alarming.
