Pakistan to Relocate TTP Members to Western Afghanistan: Sources

By Nizamuddin Rezahi in Khaama Press, June 17, 2023
Islamabad has reached an agreement with the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior to relocate Tehreek-t-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members from the border of the two countries to western Afghanistan, a senior Pakistani official on conditions of anonymity told Anadolu news agency.

The Pakistani government will bear the financial costs of relocating TTP members to the western parts of Afghanistan, the source said.

“The Pakistani government and Taliban administration have reached an agreement, however, practical steps have been initiated so far,” the Pakistani senior security official said.

While speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch refrained from talking about the topic. She said, “Speaking about such critical topics to the media is not suitable for us.”

Meanwhile, reliable sources in the Taliban government have confirmed that the group has reached an agreement with Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) to relocate TTP to northern Afghanistan.

According to the source, the Afghan Taliban will provide land to TTP members in northern Afghanistan and Pakistan will provide them with financial support for resettlement and agricultural tools.

Relocating TTP members to northern Afghanistan prompted widespread criticism within Afghanistan and beyond. Opposition groups including the National Resistance Front (NRF) described the move as extremely dangerous and the basis for the partition of Afghanistan.https://www.khaama.com/pakistan-to-relocate-ttp-members-to-western-afghanistan-sources/
