The German chapter of the Awami League has demanded the Bangla section of the German public, state-owned international broadcaster Deutsche Welle stop its “anti-Bangladesh” campaign.
The group voiced its demand at a human chain in front of Deutsche Welle’s headquarters on Thursday.
Its general secretary, Mobarak Ali Bhuiyan, said: “We Bangladeshis who have been living in Germany for a long time have never seen such an anti-Bangladesh plot by the Deutsche Welle’s Bangla division. We demand an immediate stop to the false propaganda against Bangladesh.”
In a protest letter to Deutsche Welle officials, the Awami League unit said hatred was being spread against Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in recent events of DW’s Bangla department.
“There have been well-planned, conspiratorial fake reports [published by DW Bangla] fuelled and funded by domestic and foreign quarters working against Bangladesh, which is unethical. They are trying to tarnish the reputation of Bangladesh and RAB across the world which is undoubtedly reprehensible. We strongly condemn it.”
