A man had his ankle blown off by a landmine explosion while catching wild roosters on the border of Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Tuesday afternoon.
The injured is Surut Alam, 40, of Cherarmath area of Ward No 6 in Naikhongchhari Sadar union.
Naikhongchhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tantu Saha said that locals rescued him and took him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Locals said that Surut Alam crossed the border of Myanmar on Tuesday afternoon and went to the zero line to catch wild roosters. During the explosion, Surut Alam’s right ankle was blown off, after which he was rescued by the locals and sent to the hospital.
On February 21 and 25 of this year, two Bangladeshis were injured in a land mine explosion planted by Myanmar’s security guards in Ashartali on the border of Naikhongchhari upazila and in Saludong area inside Myanmar.
