LAKKI MARWAT: The residents of Bakkakhel staged a protest demonstration in Mandi Bazaar on Monday against lawlessness in the area.
The protesters including tribal elders and youth marched on Bannu-Miranshah road and closed it to traffic by placing the coffin of a young man killed in the Sunday’s explosion there.
On the occasion, Masoom Wazir, Waliullah, Gohar Wazir and other elders condemned the bomb explosion and said that an innocent youth was killed and two others were wounded in the terror incident.
They expressed deep concerns over lawlessness in Bakkakhel, Janikhel and Mamandkhel areas and said that they were collecting bodies of their near and dear ones killed in the incidents of terrorism.
They said that people were too scared to come out of their homes to buy essentialities in bazaars and markets. “The tribal people will not sit silent rather they will raise their voice for restoring normalcy in their localities,” they added.
The speakers said that they would convene a tribal jirga soon to chalk out a future line of action and press the government to realise its prime responsibility of maintaining peace in the region. They also asked the government to take steps to improve law and order and restore peace so that people could earn livelihood for their families.
Later, the protesters dispersed and opened the road to traffic. They also buried the young man, who was killed in the Sunday’s blast of an improvised explosive device planted at a motorcycle…..
