Rapid Action Battalion said they arrested a top leader of newly surfaced militant group Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and one of his associates following a gunfight in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar today.
The arrestees are Ranbir, a shura member and head of the military wing of the militant outfit and his associate, “bomb expert” Bashar, from the area adjacent to Kutupalong Rohingya camp, said Director of Rab’s legal and media wing Khandaker Al Moin.
Local and foreign-made firearms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession, the Rab official said.
