The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov arrived in Washington for a three-day visit that will include discussing a range of issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.

Speaking to reporters, the US Secretary Antony Blinken said that the two sides are “pursuing” their “Strategic Partnership Dialogue.”

“And, of course, we have much to discuss, including with regard to Afghanistan,” Blinken said on the arrival of the Uzbek foreign minister.

The Islamic Emirate said that it wants to have good relations with all countries.

“We have repeated one of the issues several times, which is that we want good relations with all countries, and the situation, which is tense, does not benefit anyone,” said Bilal Karimi, deputy minister of the Islamic Emirate.

Analysts believe that such visits by officials from regional countries can help with the situation in Afghanistan.

“These are all the engagements which may result in legitimacy and recognition of (the Islamic Emirate),” said Wali Frozan, a political analyst.

“Uzbekistan has always shared its concerns with Russia, and now that Russia has been defeated in Ukraine, it is using another major strategic partnership, which is with the US,” said Ahmad Munib, a political analyst.

This comes as a meeting of the US-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership Dialogue is expected to be held on Tuesday in Tashkent. https://tolonews.com/afghanistan-181165
