One killed, seven hurt in Awaran blast

KHUZDAR: A shopkeeper was killed and seven others, including two women, were injured in a bomb blast at a shop in the main bazaar of Awaran on Saturday.

The shop was completely destroyed and neighbouring shops were damaged in the powerful explosion.

Levies officials said an improvised explosive device (IED) planted at a shop exploded in the rush hours, resulting in the killing of the shopkeeper and leaving seven others injured.

“The shopkeeper was killed on the spot while seven injured include two women,” Awaran deputy commissioner Jumma Dad Khan later confirmed to Dawn over phone.

The man killed in the blast was identified as Nasir Ali. The injured, including Mohammad Asif, Meharullah, Musadiq, Abdul Mutlib and Mohammad Siddiq, were passing through the area when the blast took place. The condition of two others was serious.

Security forces launched a search operation in the area after the blast to trace the culprits, but no arrest was reported till late evening hours. https://www.dawn.com/news/1725705/one-killed-seven-hurt-in-awaran-blast
