Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said on Twitter that one individual was arrested in connection with Friday’s attack on the Pakistan embassy. Mujahid said that the attacker is a foreigner and a member of the Daesh group.

He also said that foreigners were behind the attack and aimed to create mistrust between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Kabul security department, Khalid Zadran, on Twitter said that a suspect was detained on charges of firing at the Pakistan embassy.

After the attack on Friday, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the compound of the Pakistan embassy in Kabul “came under attack today targeting head of mission, Ubaid ur Rehman Nizamani.”

The statement said Nizamani is safe but a Pakistani security guard was critically wounded.

Following the attack, the Pakistan special envoy for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq tweeted that Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Pakistan embassy in Kabul, and Pakistan is verifying this “independently and with the Afghan authorities.”

The attack on the Pakistan embassy was condemned widely at the national and international level.

Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi held a phone conversation with Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and assured him that the Islamic Emirate would make all-out efforts to find and detain the perpetrators as would pay serious attention to the security of diplomats.
