ISLAMABAD – Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the PM House on Saturday afternoon.
The PM congratulated Syed Mehdi Shah on assuming office and hoped that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan would witness a new era of development and prosperity under his able leadership. He said the unanimous election of PPP candidates in G-B is a reflection of the Government’s firm commitment towards political reconciliation and politics of consensus. He said the trust reposed by the people of the area on PPP’s leadership reflects the popularity of the party.
He said the PPP government has a history of carrying forward the agenda of people service, and hoped this would remain the cornerstone of the party’s future policies in G-B. He asked the newly elected Chief Minister to give priority to people’s welfare while formulating and implementing development projects in all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Syed Medhi Shah thanked the government for providing unprecedented development funds for Gilgit-Baltistan and said that this record allocation would usher in a new era of development and public welfare in the hitherto underdeveloped part of the country.
He thanked the Prime Minister for his personal interest in the development of the area and said that he would do his utmost to come up to the confidence entrusted to him.
