The latest statistics of the World Justice Project WJP indicate that Afghanistan has been ranked 134th out of 139 countries in rule of law that shows one position drop.
As per the statistics, Afghanistan is 6 out of 6 in the South Asia region and 17 out of 18 among low-income countries.
In South Asia, Nepal has come top of the six countries in rule of law followed by Sri Lanka and India.
Nepal has also been ranked 70th out of the world’s 139 countries.
The region’s other countries are Bangladesh and Pakistan that follow India respectively.
Worldwide, there was a decline in rule of law in the previous year caused by the COVID-19 with 74.2% of the world states recorded a decrease in rule of law.
The above percentage accounts for 84.7% of the world’s population or approximately 6.5 billion people.
The top performers of this year were Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Democratic Republic of Congo, Cambodia, and Venezuela had the lowest overall rule of law.
